In November 2009 as part of Youth Month “Thinking seriously about...” the Curriculum Development Unit held a symposium on Quality Assurance in the Youth Sector. The symposium came from discussions between the CDU and the Education and Training Inspectorate. The symposium included people from the voluntary and statutory sector and was facilitated by an independent consultant, Tony Macaulay.
A recommendation from the symposium was that a working group be set up to develop a framework for quality assurance that could be used in a range of youth work contexts and at every level of youth service.
In response to this we want as many people as possible to contribute. We invite you online to send any resources and or tools you have in relation to quality assurance, self evaluation and critical reflective practice.
Please send us any suggestions, samples and proposals of good quality assurance models and tools from across the youth sector and/or further afield that you believe could be applied or adapted for use across the sector. We are particularly interested in simple and user friendly models that would reflect quality assurance systems presently in use and could be used in any setting such as a one night a week voluntary youth group.
