Outreach Initiative
The Outreach Initiative is funded through the Children and Young People Funding Package launched by the Secretary of State in March 2006.
The initiative is a new Outreach Youth Work provision focusing on marginalised and isolated young people in rural areas(and on interfaces in communities with a rural hinterland) as well as young people who are part of hard to reach communities of interest that fall under Section 75 including LGBT (Lesbian, Gay Bi-Sexual and Trans-Gender), ethnic minority and disabled young people.
The two year funded package has provided 25 youth workers across the statutory and voluntary sectors to serve these groups.
