A significant proportion of youth work takes place in youth centres. Centre based youth work continues to provide an engaging informal environment for young people in which they can learn and benefit from positive outcomes. Environments in Youth Centres can provide a bridge between young people and their communities. There young people can become members of well-informed, well-motivated and actively participating communities. Learning in youth centres can be informal and non-formal in nature. That is learning can take place in conversations and un-structured background activities, but learning can also take in structure programmes delivered within the youth centre.
If you would like to add an example of practice from a youth centre you can discuss this with the Curriculum Development Officers in the unit. They can provide guidance of possible content and format.
