Life Choice Training and Best Practice - Feedback

The Curriculum Development Unit’s Resource Library has had some new arrivals! Five Real Care Babies have joined the team. Each baby comes with an instruction pack, activities, nappies, bottles, changing bag and a breastfeeding device to name a few.

The Real Care Babies are the most sophisticated parenting tools available to help young people shape their choices in life. The Real Care Baby is based on the schedules of 15 real infants and must be fed, rocked, burped and changed, its wireless technology provides ease of use for both students and programmers. The Real Care Baby is so advanced that its electronics register all proper care, missed care and mishandles, and all abuse and neglect.

Along with our real care babies we have also received three demonstrators including; the Shaken Baby Syndrome Demonstrator, which is designed with a transparent head that clearly defines the traumatic brain injuries caused by shaking a baby. The Drug Affected Demonstrator which shows a tragic example of the effects of drug use during pregnancy and the Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Manikin which shows only some of the damaging affects’ alcohol can have on a baby.

Feedback results from the Baby Training day held on Wednesday 18th November 2009.
