The resource library has a range of resources that includes practice guides, CD Roms and videos. We attempt to focus on resources which are of practical use to youth workers when delivering sessions with young people. We also keep policy papers and theory books.
 
How many resources does the library contain?
The library currently has approximately 500 items. We add approximately another 10 items to the library each month. We are happy add items that we do not have based on your recommendation.
 
Who can use the library?
The library is designed for use by the youth service. This includes all youth workers from the statutory, voluntary and community sectors. As a rough guide if your youth organisation is registered with an Education and Library Board, the Youth Council or Youth Net, then you can use the library. Please give us a call to discuss your needs.
 
Do I have to be a member to use the library?
We currently do not operate a membership. We do ask you to give contact details and the name of the youth organisation you work in.
 
Is there a charge to use the library?
There is no charge use the library. We will post the item to you free of charge, however, we do ask you to return the item in person or pay for the cost of postage to return the item.
 
Can I come in and view the items in the library?
Yes. You can come and browse through the items. We currently open only during office hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Our library resource officer works on Tuesday and Thursday.
 
How do I find an item in the library?
Items in the physical library are sorted according to curriculum areas. However you can also search our database, using a keyword search. You can further refine the search by type (e.g. video, practice guide, policy), by a category (e.g. health, finance etc) or core principle. Of course if you can find what you are looking for you can give use a call?
 
Is there a member of staff who can assist me to find the item I require?
Yes, we currently have a library resource officer. They currently work on a Tuesday and Thursday. They should be able to direct you
 
What are the opening times of the library?
We currently open only during office hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. We will attempt to accommodate a request to view the library outside these hours.
 
How long can I borrow items for?
We will loan items for one month.
 
Is there a limit on the number of resources I can borrow?
You can normally borrow five items at a time.
 
Can I renew borrowed items?
Yes. We will renew items on loan for a further month.
 
Can you post me out the items I require?
Yes. We will post the items to you free of charge, however, we do ask you to return the item in person or pay for the cost of postage to return the item
 
You can return the items in person or pay for the cost of postage to return the item. We will issue you an invoice with the items you have borrowed; you can then use our freepost address.

The CDU has published the 2008 version of its library catalogue. The catalogue contains details of nearly 1000 resources which are available on loan from the CDU through their postal borrowing system. The catalogue provides resource details including author, title, and a summary and cover photograph. Resources are usefully in curriculum program areas for ease of use.
